This year’s Channel O Music Video Awards red carpet will be taken on by Angolan Channel O VJ turned Big Brother superstar Weza and Tanzania beauty Jokate. Weza will be stationed on the main red carpet to get up close and personal interviews with artists and celebrities while Jokate will venture out to the pre drinks area as well as back stage at the awards.
This year sees 24 year university graduate Jokate Urban Mwegelo who hails from Tanzania join the O family. For “JK” – as she is also known – being part of the channel is a great opportunity, “This is a chance for me to promote African talent and present it to the world. I am looking forward to interviewing African superstars, building my brand across Africa, inspiring young people to explore and be better with their talents.” To her, Africa is the best place to be, “Everything is happening in this continent and everybody wants to be a part of this growth and the possibilities it holds,” she adds.
Last year the red carpet was taken on by a very fashionable Dineo Moeketsi who got to chat to all the artists who came out to celebrate African music. This year Dineo accompanied by Nigerian R&B sensation Banky W will be taking on the main awards show which will be broadcast LIVE on Friday, 11 November 2011 at 21:00 CAT.
